Laser Cold Sore and Canker Sore Treatment
Do you or someone you know suffer from reoccurring cold sores?? Cold sores can often appear at the worst possible times due to stress, environmental factors and sometimes for no reason at all! We offer laser cold treatment which is painless, and takes between 5 to 10 minutes. Best of all it offers immediate relief to the discomfort caused by the cold sore and immediately begins the healing process which stops the sore from progressing and getting worse. Many patients report that the cold sore will completely disappear within days instead of the usual few weeks it would normally take for it to run its course. The treatment can also help prevent the cold sore from re-occurring in the future!! The laser can also be used to treat fever blisters, canker sores, bite trauma on the tongue and cheek, and painful burns from food/liquids.
Laser Bacterial Reduction
Laser Bacterial Reduction or “LBR” is a service that our office now offers to our patients and can be completed during your routine care appointment. LBR is a painless, laser procedure which basically decontaminates your mouth while lowering the risk of bacteria entering your bloodstream. Studies have shown that bacteria found in the mouth can exacerbate other existing conditions throughout the body. LBR is mainly used to treat gingivitis which is the mildest form of gum disease, however, if left untreated can lead to a more aggressive gum disease called periodontitis. Team Pawl is proud to offer this amazing technology to our patients as a preventive measure not only for the health of your mouth but also for your entire body.
Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy
Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy or “LAPT” is a laser procedure that is performed for patients who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe levels of periodontal disease. Optimally, this is recommended to be completed with scaling/root planing (deep cleaning). LAPT not only removes bacteria like “LBR” (mentioned above), but also helps to remove gum tissue that has become unhealthy in order to promote healing and tissue regeneration. This treatment is an amazing, non-surgical, virtually painless alternative to costly and invasive surgical intervention.
Laser Decay Detection
Our Diagnodent laser decay detector is a revolutionary new way to find even the smallest areas of decay in teeth allowing us to treat them before they become serious dental issues. Cavities can be tricky as they are not always visible on x-rays or with the naked eye. Using the Diagnodent, we are able to locate the problem area early and resolve it quickly preventing more costly and invasive intervention down the line.
We use the Diagnodent during our exams at no extra cost to you. It is a part of our commitment to offer the best, most advanced care to our patients!
Laser Gum Recontouring
Our laser can also be used to re-contour your gum line for both functional and cosmetic purposes. Sometimes, an overgrowth of gum tissue can trap food beneath the gums, causing irritation and inflammation in the area. Additionally, the laser can be a handy tool during a filling. At times, decay may be present below the gum line and not accessible. Using our laser, gum tissue can quickly, easily and painlessly be removed in a conservative manner in order to complete the filling. Cosmetically, overgrown gum tissue can be reshaped to even-out your gum line, revealing the beauty of your natural teeth underneath!! The procedure is virtually painless (since the laser seals off the nerve endings within the gums) and the process of “photobiostimulation” begins the healing process immediately with a minimal healing period!
Laser Dentistry Patient
Meet Aryn
I can’t believe my luck to have found such an amazing dentist office. My son had a huge canker sore and refuses to eat or brush his teeth for days. My dentist had mentioned a laser they can use to help heal the sore quickly but when I called them they couldn’t see him till Monday, which was 4 days away. I googled canker sore lasers in San Diego and found Dr Pawl. Stephanie at the front was so compassionate, even though the offices were closing she made accommodations to see my son even though we were 20 minutes away. When we got there, everyone was so nice and courteous. The office was kid friendly. Stephanie is the sweetest, kindest person and made sure I knew exactly what was going to happen with the laser treatment. My son who wouldn’t let me look at his mouth for days did great and it instantly felt better. I don’t care that they are not in my neighborhood, I am making the switch.
